Hearts of Oak Target GH�1 Million In Centenary Celebrations

Accra Hearts of Oak have targeted a whopping GH�1 million from its centenary celebrations later in the year for developmental projects of the club. The oldest existing football club in the country turns 100 on November 11. The Board of Directors has constituted a Central Planning Committee (CPC) charged to raise the staggering amount, for the construction of a hostel for the playing body. The committee has also been charged with the responsibility of drawing up activities to commemorate the occasion. The CPC is also expected to work with the corporate world, supporters of the club and well meaning Ghanaians to realise the objectives of the centenary celebrations. Board Chairman Emmanuel Martey Commodore-Mensah will chair the committee with Fred Crentsil, Frank Nelson Nwokolo, Paarock van Percy, Ms Norkor Duah, Kwame Adjepong, Mohamed Polo, Kofi Graham and Ashford Tettey Oku as members. Speaking at the media launch of the centenary celebrations on Friday, Commodore-Mensah mentioned that four other sub-committees; namely Finance/sponsorship, Programme and events, Publicity and Promotion and Centenary match have been put up to help in the organisation of a befitting programme for the celebrations. Paarock van Percy will head the Finance/Sponsorship sub-committee with the likes of Eric Nii Amaah Ashitey, Charles Mensah, Benonita Bismark-Nketia, Simon Dornoo and Kojo Graham as members. The Programme and events sub-committee is made up of Fred Crentsil (Chairman), Jamil Maraby, Mark Addo, Eric Kwakye and Vincentia Deku with Ms Norkor Duah, Joel Nettey, Neil Armstrong, Mawuko Afadzinu and Gifty Addy constituting the Publicity and Promotion sub-committee. The Centenary sub-committee has Frank Nelson Nwokolo (Chairman), Fred Crentsil, Victor Kisseih, Ben Taylor, Edwin Kurt Okraku, Kofi Anokye and football legend Mohamed Polo.
