"Tackie Tawiah Is Still The Legitimate Ga King"

Counsel for Tackie Tawiah III, Nii Ayikoi Otoo has stated that despite Saturdays swearing in of Nii Adama Latse II as the new Ga Mantse, his client Nii Tackie Tawiah is still the legitimate Ga King. According to him, Saturdays ceremony was a direct disobedience of a court order not to interfere with Nii Tackie Tawiahs performance as Ga Mantse. It is a direct disobedience to the order of the court not to interfere with Nii Tackie Tawiahs performance as a Chief. Nii Ayikwei Otoo earlier on filed contempt proceedings against seven persons including the newly sworn in Ga King, barring them from taking part in any activity that relates to Tackie Tawiah. However, on Saturday June 25, Nii Adama Latse II was sworn in, a move counsel for Tackie Tawiah has described as a direct contempt of court. Speaking to Citi News on Sunday June 26, Nii Ayikoi Otoo said a motion has been slated for July 7 after which he and his client will take the appropriate action. What they did yesterday if I understand is that they went in for a swearing in ceremony, that is a very bizarre ceremony. I do not see how a paramount chief of Ga would be swearing in the oath of allegiance to a divisional chief. In any case some of them have already been served with contempt proceedings, they have defied the order and went ahead and did what they call a swearing in. That is not a big deal because what we are worried about is the installation they did during the pendency of the suit. At the appropriate time we would ask the Judiciary to look into the matter.
