John Mensah Open To Olympique Lyon Stay

Ghana captain John Mensah has stated he will only stay at French side Olympique Lyon if he is guaranteed more playing time at the Stade Gerland. The centre-back has been given an ultimatum to report to the club by 30 June ahead of their pre-season. Mensah joined Lyon in the summer of 2008 but left the club the following year to Sunderland-where he spent two seasons on loan-after falling down the pecking order. With the departure of Claude Puel as head coach, the Rock of Gibraltar could see through the remainder of his five-year contract. Lyon is a great club and if they are prepared to give me enough playing time then why not, I will play there because I have a running contract with them, Mensah said. They have given me up till June 30th to report. For now, there are no concrete offers on the table so I have to return to France to see what happens.
