Ahmed Apimah Barusso Bids For Black Stars Return

Its been over three years since Ahmed Apimah Barusso last played for the senior national side, the Black Stars but the midfielder is not calling time on his international career just yet. The Italy-based player says, he is biding his time after his last association with the Ghana team came back in 2008 at the African Cup of Nations. Barusso, an AS Roma player who was on loan last season with Livorno admits that the attractiveness of the Black Stars has increased the level of competition for places in the side. Talking about the Black Stars, fighting for a position is now very competitive but I have not given up my hopes of playing for my national team, Barusso said. In order to guarantee himself a call up, the midfielder is turning his sights on doing well at club level first. At the moment, I am concentrating on my club career but if I get an invite to play for the Black Stars one of these days I will do my best to justify the confidence reposed in me. However, he is frank enough to admit that he failed to make the best out of his time in the national team. I think I had a chance some time ago but maybe I did not perform well to the expectations of many fans but I still hope I will have an opportunity one of these days. Those who have had the opportunity to play for the [Black] Stars currently are doing well and I urge them to buck up and do more than what they are doing now and hopefully when I get the opportunity one day, I will also come and contribute my quota to the course of the Black Stars, the Italy-based midfielder said. Though he continues to bid his time to play for the national team again, Barusso, however, remains committed to fulfilling his social obligations by helping the needy in society. Barusso, while on vacation made a donation worth over GHS 12,000 of food items to the Blessed Bright Futures Orphanage at Krobo-Odumase in the Manya Krobo District in the Eastern Region. The donation, according to him, forms part of his desire to support the needy after every season. I have planned to help the needy after every season and I know it is having a positive impact on my playing career. I hope God will touch the hearts of my other colleagues to also contribute their widows mite in order to lessen the plights of some of the needy kids in the country so that they will be blessed.
