Jordan Opoku Is Back!

Former Asante Kotoko Captain Jordan Opoku has resumed training with the Porcupine Warriors at the clubs training ground at Adarkwa Jarchie in Kumasi after a stint abroad. The midfielder, affectionately called River Jordan, is back with his mother club after a 4-month loan spell in Europe, with Dinamo Tirana, a top Albanian premiership side that has won the league 18 times, the Albanian Cup 13 times and the Super Cup two times. DAILY GUIDE SPORTS gathered that the former Kotoko Skipper played all matches while with the European outfit, and even featured for his club on the very day he signed the loan agreement. The paper also learnt that Jordan Opoku was central to Dinamo Tiranas campaign in the latter part of the season, guiding the team to the semi-finals of the Albanian Super Cup. Reports say he was so impressive that he attracted the attention of several clubs in Albania and elsewhere in Europe, who have expressed interest in signing him for the upcoming football season. Jordan Opoku, since his days at Fetteh Feyenord, has attracted a lot of interests from clubs abroad. At the beginning of the Glo Premiership last season, the intelligent midfielder, noted for his deft touches, was said to have received an invitation for trials with a Saudi Arabian club. Later, there were reports also that a club in the United States of America was interested in signing the then Kotoko captain, but an agreement could not be reached between the US team and the Porcupine Warriors. Meanwhile some fans of Kotoko have expressed delight at the return of River Jordan, hoping that he will feature for the club in order to help the Porcupine Warriors to win their 22nd league title. Kweku Asare Annor of Tema, an ardent fan of the club noted: All Kotoko fans will certainly receive this news with pleasure. Of course Jordan had our blessing when he was leaving for Albania, but it was a painful loss. Hopefully he will help strengthen our midfield before leaving for another stint abroad, because from what I heard, a lot of clubs are queuing up for his signature. River Jordan, welcome back! As to how long he will stay in Ghana to partner the likes of Daniel Nii Adjei and make Kotoko a formidable side once again, only time will tell.
