Tullow Posts Record Revenue

Tullow Oil Plc has posted record interim financial results for the first half of the year, expressing delight about the performance. The oil and gas explorer posted record revenue of $1.05 billion in the first six months of 2011 due to higher commodity prices and strong output from the Jubilee oilfield in Ghana. According to the company, its average realized oil price jumped from $77 per barrel in 2010 to $112 per barrel this year, while its working interest production reached 75,350 barrels per day of oil equivalent during the first half. Production from Tullows interest in the Jubilee oilfield in Ghana was a major contributor. The field, which started production late November 2010, is currently producing 80,000 barrels per day. 15 out of the total 19 wells drilled in the first half were successful, giving Tullow an exploration success rate of 79 percent. As a result of exploration success and acquisitions, Tullow raised its production guidance for the full year from 86,000 to 92,000 barrels of oil per day to between 90,000 and 94,000 barrels per day. The oil giants second half production will include contributions from the recently acquired Nuon Exploration and Production. Nuons assets offshore Netherlands are set to increase Tullows North Sea gas output by 9,000 barrels per day to 23,000 barrels per day. Tullow is currently awaiting approval of its acquisition of EO Groups stake in the West Cape Three Points block, which would increase its interest in Jubilee. We have enhanced our portfolio through acquisitions in the Netherlands and Ghana and our high level of exploration and appraisal success continues, said Chief Executive of Tullow Oil Aidan Heavey. Shares in Tullow climbed 19 pence (1.5 percent) to 1,272 pence in early deals in London. The company currently has a market capitalization of 11.3 billion.
