Seattle Sounders Cannot Pay US$ 200,000 Wages For Prince Tagoe

Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders have confirmed interest in Ghana international Prince Tagoe but say they cannot afford the US$ 200, 000 a week deal for the striker. Tagoe, 25, admitted last month that the Seattle-based side have approached him with the jaw-dropping wages per week. But the Americans insist they cannot pay US$ 10 million a year for any player. I cant comment on contract issues, Seattle Sounders General Manager Adrian Hanauer said. Prince is under contract with another club. Separately, we will not be paying anyone US$ 200,000 per week, he said. David Beckham is MLSs highest paid player he gets about US$ 6.5 million a year, which translates to about $125,000 a week. Former Barcelona and France striker Thierry Henry makes about US$ 5.6 million a year. Tagoe, who spent last season on loan at Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade, has re-joined his German side TSG Hoffenheim where he is under contract till 2013.
