Konadu Contest Of Mills A Blessing - Ablakwa

A Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah, has described as a blessing the decision by former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings to challenge President Mills for the NDC flagbearer slot. He argues that the election of President Mills as the presidential candidate of the party for the 2012 election only shows that the president is doing a good job. Speaking to Citi FM, Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa said the New Patriotic Party appears to be worried that the congress ended peacefully and President Mills got the nod to try for another term. The NPP has spent so much money; 60% of their advertisement and compositions of songs, stressing on the fact that a vote for President mills is a vote for Rawlings; that is smashed. "Secondly the idea that our President will not be his own man has also been smashed. "Thirdly, NDC is no longer seen as a cult or a sole proprietorship where there is one big man with a big stick who tells where to go or what to do. "Fourthly we have also deepened our internal democracy and re-energized our party. There is so much energy and revival that if the national election was tomorrow, Im sure the NPP would run for cover. Mr. Okudjeto Ablakwah also allayed fears of a possible fracas between the Nana Konadu camp and that of President Mills, saying the President has done enough to show that he is more interested in the unity of the party than individual egos. You know the President has already said that the outcome of this congress is a victory for all. This is not about satisfying anyones ego. The NDC party is united and we are confident of success in the coming elections.
