GHALCA Warns Kotoko

Interim Management Committee member of GHALCA Vincent Sowah Odotei has warned Asante Kotoko over reports of an imminent break away from the Association. The club are furious with the heavy sanctions imposed on them for the President Cup medal snub. The two-time African champions boycotted the presentation of the medal from the countrys Vice-President on 1 July for what they described as biased officiating against the club. But a 10,000 Ghana cedis fine and one-year extinction from all GHALCA related activities sanction has not helped matters. Speculations are rife that the club, who have a lot of followers, could shake the foundation of GHALCA by pulling out of the association. But Odotei, a member of the five-man interim committee, is warning the club of the repercussions of such a decision. We must all understand that we must bring discipline to our game and not bring it into disrepute and so it wont be in their own interest to take such stand, he said. Admittedly Kotoko is a big club but they dont play the league alone. They play with other clubs and so if they also refuse to play with them then were not in businesses. Kotoko have since the incident issued a groveling apology to the Vice-President, the Ghana Football Association and GHALCA.
