2012 Is Big Battle

THE FLAGBEARER of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dunkwa Akufo-Addo, has emphasised that the 2012 elections is a very big battle and has therefore called on party supporters to work hard to ensure that the party gets the nod. According to him, NPP was known for fulfilling promises made to Ghanaians, hence the need for supporters to map out strategies to help rescue Ghanaians from the economic hardship brought upon them by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government under President John Mills. Nana Addo stated this when he visited some communities in the Awutu Senya Constituency as part of his three-day listening tour to the Central Region. Nana Addo, spotted in his traditional NPP lacoste with blue jeans, was accompanied by his campaign manager Boakye Agyarko, his operations director Lord Commey, as well as regional and constituency executives. Hundreds of supporters trooped to Kasoa and its environs amidst drumming and dancing to the tunes of brass band music to welcome him. Nana Addo arrived at Kasoa, his first port of call, at exactly 9:30am and paid a working visit to workers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) branch office in the area where he interacted with the staff. Some areas he visited included Kasoa Zongo, Old market, Awutu Traditional Council, Senya Palace, Bawjiase lorry station, Sawmill community. He later paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Ofankor. His presence created artificial traffic at all the places he visited and this compelled party executives to direct traffic in such areas. In his address, Nana Addo appealed to chiefs to help him win the 2012 elections, adding that he would ensure he put in place measures that would allow chiefs to participate in the developmental activities of the country since traditional institutions were beautiful institutions which complemented government in undertaking developmental projects. He further added that there was the need to include chiefs in governmental issues since they also had a stake in developmental processes. Nana Addo indicated that NPP would never turn a blind eye to Ghanaians. Gone are the days when NDC will lie to the people of Zongo that NPP will eject them from various Zongo communities when they are given power, he stated. NPP ruled for eight years and nothing happened to Ghanaians. Ghanaians can attest to that, that NPP is for Zongos and will continue to be for Zongos he added.
