Parents asked to invest in their childrens education

Mr Augustus Nii Lante Cleland, the New Juaben Municipal Director of Education, has called on parents to invest in the education of their children. He observed that abandoned children became delinquent and prone to vices such as cyber fraud, and suffered from child labour. Mr Cleland was speaking at the first open day celebration of the Freeman Methodist Junior High School (JHS) in Koforidua on Friday. He said: It would be suicidal to nurture misfits, rogues, vagabonds and deviants and appealed to parents avoid flamboyant lifestyles, expensive funerals and invest and seek the welfare of their children. Ms Freda Opata, headmistress of the JHS, appealed to philanthropists and government to help the school build a computer laboratory, saying the world had become a global village through the use of Information and Communication Technology. She called for the construction of a wall round the school to prevent school children from loitering and to prevent intruders from interfering with academic work.
