THREE TOWNS in the Ningo-Prampram constituency believed to be in the iron grip of the area�s Member of Parliament (MP), Enoch Teye Mensah have pledged their allegiance to the largest opposition party, New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2012 general elections.
The declaration of Prampram, Old Ningo and Afienya came after the area�s NPP parliamentary candidate, Sylvester Matthew Tetteh outlined his and the NPP�s vision and development plan for Ningo-Prampram.
In an interview with the spokesperson of the three towns at Prampram recently, Awotse Charway Larbi Ahmed said the choice of who to support in 2012 is for them to make �because we want our children to enjoy free senior high school education as promised by Nana Akufo-Addo and also to have access to farm implements to cultivate our farmlands.�
He said the aspiring NPP MP�s development programmes were the mark of a creative thinker. Ahmed described the incumbent MP as a total failure saying he has allegedly not been able to bring a single programme to the area after representing them in parliament for nearly twenty years.
�Listen, for many year we remained resolute for E.T but since he has decided to use some of us as baits to enrich himself and family, we in his �World Bank� have decided to substitute him for the NPP and Sly (Sylvester),� he noted adding that the old order needed to be changed to make way for the new.
Flanked by some people from the three communities, Ahmed alleged that E.T Mensah had secured a job for his son Humphrey as Deputy Coordinator of the Greater Accra National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) with his wife Victoria allegedly managing about 70 per cent of schools in the Greater Accra region currently under the school feeding programme.
He promised that the three towns would publicly launch their group after the NPP in the constituency had officially welcomed them into its fold explaining that they were currently in talks with Jonathan Doku, the NPP Acting General Secretary and Research and Electoral Officer in the Ningo-Prampram constituency in that regard.
Doku later confirmed having met twice with the said representatives of the three towns but said �as a Research Officer, I need to go on the ground to find out who these people really are before the NPP welcomes them.�
Elections are about numbers �and when finally we have welcomed these people whose number is awesome, you can envisage the political tsunami that will hit grand papa E. T Mensah and his NDC,� he added.
The wind of change is evidently blowing �and so my colleagues in the NPP and disgruntled Ghanaians for that matter must take solace in the fact that the NPP has done it before and is about to do it again when massively voted for.�
He charged the rank and file of the NPP to remain focused and stand behind their flag bearer Nana-Akufo Addo as well as the party�s parliamentary candidates saying the harsh economic policies of the NDC must never be re-visited on Ghanaians.
