Without a shadow of a doubt, Mrs Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has failed in her bid to be the ruling party�s Presidential candidate for 2012. However what we fail to recognise as a nation is that, Mrs Rawlings will indisputably be known as a winner in her own right. It is my belief that until we are able to acknowledge this fact as a nation , we will continue to remain in a blind alley. Mrs Rawlings is a role model for the Ghanaian female population. We are taught by Mrs Rawlings that as Ghanaian women, we may not be able to wrestle with the fact that we live in a male dominated society and perhaps world, but we can aspire to greater things and reach for the stars. I do not expect you to entirely agree with me, but as a nation, I strongly believe Ghana has a long way to go. This is especially in terms of recognising and realising that there is nothing wrong with a woman challenging the �alpha male� for the office of the president, so long as she possesses the relevant capacity to do so. Mrs Rawlings epitomizes Dr Kwegyir Aggrey�s famous quote which reads:� if you educate a man you educate an individual but if you educate a woman you educate a whole nation�. Mrs Rawlings has not only paved the way for women of all backgrounds in Ghana to �shine� in every aspect of their lives, but also as a nation we have become more aware and accepting of the fact that, it is perfectly okay for women to challenge their male counterparts in all aspects of life. Ghanaian Women can also tread where all women in Ghana fear to tread or have never trodden. The list of female Presidents/Prime Ministers who also motivate women the world over are as follows: In Finland we have President Tarja Halonen, In Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel, In Liberia President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, In India we have President Pratibha Patil, In Argentina President Fernandez de Kirchner, In Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed, In Bermuda Premier Paula A Cox, in Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Bissessar and the list goes on. In MODERN Ghana, for the first time in our history, we have Her Excellency Mrs Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings blazing the trail for all Ghanaian women. Mrs Rawlings, I shiver at the thought of this proclamation, but I dare to put my hand on my heart and� go out on a limb� to say this: on behalf of all Ghanaian women and the nation at large, I wholeheartedly applaud and congratulate you for the consistent stance you maintained amid criticism and threats from all corners, calling for you to back down from your decision to challenge the incumbent president , His Excellency John Atta Mills. I would also like to take this opportunity to commend you for �keeping your chin up�. Many defined your actions as the NDC �going to hell in a handbasket�. Mrs Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, you are one woman of valour, the true embodiment of a principled woman and above all, a symbol of hope for the young Ghanaian girl. You will always be celebrated for your contribution to MODERN Ghanaian politics and for your bravery. Through you, the women of Ghana have learnt to �BE BOLD�- can I get a witness? Mrs Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, with an enthusiastic recognition of all your achievements, I respectfully say �Madam Ayeko! Ayekoo! Ayekooo! Ayekoooo! Ayekooooo! Ayekoooooooo!� One Ghana, One NDC.
