Mrs Rawlings And Her Husband Made Ghana Expensive- Alhaji Bature

Managing Editor of the Al-Hajj newspaper, Alhaji Iddrisu Bature, has entreated all Ghanaians to subject to critical interrogation by surfing the internet to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of the statement by former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings that Ghana is one of the most expensive countries to live in at the moment. Speaking to a group of women from 25 African countries participating in the Milead Fellowship International which seeks to empower women with skills for leadership, Nana Konadu reportedly said, By the time you leave here, you will find that Ghana is one of the most expensive countries on this continent today. Very, very expensive. We have to find a way of knocking that down, she stated. But though the seasoned journalist concedes that the prices of goods and services have gone up in the country, the statement by the former First Lady is a total fallacy, and accused Mrs. Rawlings of standing idly by whiles the husband, who was then president, stunted growth in the country. na unemployment, who cause am? he asked rather rhetorically. The former host of Alhaji and Alhaji, a political discussion programme on Radio Gold, laid blame at the doorstep of the Rawlingses for the present state of affairs in the country, alleging that under the presidency of Mr. Rawlings, about three hundred state enterprises were sold off. He accused the former First Lady of being a direct beneficiary of the looting of state assets orchestrated by her husband when she purchased the Nsawam Cannery. She (Nana Konadu) bought some of the state assets that her own husband soldthe Nsawam Cannery is oneSo today, what moral right and justification does she have to advise us? You dont have to do that ...for you remind Ghanaians of extreme pain, he said. He threw an open challenge to anyone to provide empirical evidence that Ghana is even named in the top ten most expensive countries in the world, and wondered what methodology the former First Lady used in drawing that conclusion. Surf every website about expensive countries and cities, Ghanas name is not featured, so where is it? In my hands are documents to support my claimseven as at January 2011, Ghana featured at 115 out of 160 countries. In Africa, Ghana is not featured Anogla, Chad, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Lagos, is far ahead and Ghana isnt among the ten I believe it was pure mischief on her partshe told a blatant lie, Alhaji Bature.
