Kotoko Break Camp

THE ENTIRE playing body of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been given a break in training, information reaching Daily Guide Sports indicates. The Kotoko players as well as technical bench would therefore spend the next one week resting after a long season which saw them finishing third in the league and placing second in the FA Cup. The short break, a Porcupine Warriors source stated, is necessary as it is aimed at helping the players rest their limbs after a long season which also saw them finishing as runners up in the Presidential Cup. The Kotoko team would resume training at the clubs Adarko Jarchie training grounds in Kumasi on August 3. They would train for four days and then emplane to Serbia on August 7 this year for pre-season training in preparation towards the next league. The two-time African champions would play some friendly games with top-notch Serbian clubs during their short stay in the country but they are yet to settle on the particular clubs. Kotoko is arguably the most successful football club in the country having won the league 21 times, which is the Ghanaian record, in addition to other equally important trophies. The club was particularly great and fearsome in the 1980s when they beat their opponents easily. But sadly today, Kotoko have been struggling to replicate the form which made them a household name on the continent.
