Volta Citizens Demand Stan Dogbe's Head

Presidential Aide Stan Dogbe may soon be battling to hang onto his job if government officials accede to a demand by some of his kinsmen that he be fired. The Volta Caucus in Tema, as they call themselves are calling for Mr. Dogbe's immediate dismissal from the Presidency and an apology to the people of the Volta region, particularly to the Paramount Chief of the Gbi Traditional Area, Togbui Gabusu VI, headquartered at Hohoe, following what they see as his lack of respect for the institution of chieftaincy and the government. A claim of governmental neglect by the Mills administration of the Volta Region, made by Togbui Gabusu in an interview with Citi FM, received a spirited response from Mr Dogbe, who accused the chief of playing politics with developmental issues. The Paramount Chief had said earlier that the area where President Mills cut the sod for the construction of the proposed University for Allied Health Science had become a forest that wild animals use as their habitat. Promises to complete the Eastern Corridor road had also not been fulfilled, he said and questioned the commitment of the NDC administration to fulfilling promises made to its most vibrant support base. However, in a subsequent interview with Citi FM, Mr. Dogbe dismissed these claims, saying they were partisan-based and untrue. He hinted that Togbui Gabusu was an NPP sympathizer who engaged in naked politics. Speaking in an interview with Citi News on Wednesday August 3, 2011 the Chairman of the Tema Volta Caucus, Evans Horva-Faidu demanded that Mr. Dogbe be sacked by the President for his total disregard and disrespect for the prominent traditional ruler as well as the government. What Mr. Stan Dogbe said underrates our chief and even our own government. The president must sack him because his statements were wrong he fumed. The Tema Caucus supported Togbui Gabusus assertion that government had delayed in constructing the university in the Volta region and thus was right in making such criticisms. He expressed surprise at his kinsmans reaction, saying that we know that he is also a Voltarian, so why would he take such a stand against the chief?
