Mr. Bright Kwame Blewu, General Secretary of Ghana Journalists Association, on Thursday urged the government to expedite action on the passage Broadcasting Law to serve as a guide to the Media Commission and Ghana Journalists Association. He said the current situation where most of the Radio and Television stations were operating without guide lines were not helping nation building. Mr Blewu said this during the sponsorship announcement and presentation of major sponsors of the 16th GJA wards. He said the Broadcasting law was not meant for only Radio and Television programmes but also to help in the conduct of elections as well. Mr. Michael Nana Quartson, Head of Innolink print and packaging marketing department, said the organisation�s printing press which has been sponsoring the best news reporter for print in the last three years has stepped up their sponsorship package to become a major sponsor of the event. According to him, the Company is also printing 2000 copies of brochures for awards night and that the additional copies will be kept at the disposal of the association to be circulated for purposes of disseminating. He mentioned three important documents which will be in the brochure as the GJA code of ethics, guidelines on election coverage, and also guide on coverage conflict situation under a state of emergency to guide the media in the coverage of the 2012 elections and also to help unprofessional Journalists to have some standards their output in reporting. He said the Best Print Reporter�s cash price is 3,000 and 17,000 being the cost of printing the event brochures thus the total package for this year awards stands at GHc20,000.00 The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) donated five thousands Ghana cedis towards the GJA awards, Accra Brewery donated twenty two thousand Ghana cedis and Zoomlion Company Limited donated thirty thousand Ghana cedis.
