86 Fans Arrive For Ghana-Nigeria Match

Travel and tour giants African Origin has flown 86 fans to London, England for the Ghana/Nigeria international friendly which takes place at the Vicarage Road Stadium, Watford. The fans arrived at Terminal One of the Heathrow Airport, London, chanting Ghana oseeyie, drumming and dancing, to the consternation of travellers. They were driven to Millennium Lodge, Harrow Road, London, in waiting vans to await the match on Tuesday. In an interview with Kofi Asare Brako aka Abatey, he said due to disappointments in flight schedules, the fans could not watch the Community Shield match at the Wembley Stadium between Manchester City and Manchester United, as they arrived late yesterday. He indicated that African Origin had made arrangements in that regard, and therefore the disappointment was huge. Indeed Abatey had been in England since last week helping to whip up more interest in the game via Ghanaian-owned media, such as Focus Radio and OBE TV. The London representative of African Origin, Patrick Apreku, indicated that tickets allocated to Nigerian fans had been oversubscribed, but the some allocated to Ghana are yet to clear. Our worry is that the Nigerians might outnumber us at the stadium on Tuesday. He said that was the reason he, together with Abatey, moved from one network to the other rallying support for the Black Stars. Let us not delude ourselves into thinking the match with Nigeria is a walk in the park for Ghana. No, it is not. Nigeria are as formidable as they used to be. We will be underrating them at our own peril, Mr Apreku said on one of the radio stations in London.
