2011 Ghana Music Awards Female Vocalist of the Year, Efya has added another trophy to her fledging music career after she received the Best Ghanaian Female Musician of the Year nod at the City People Entertainment Awards, held last Saturday, August 7 at HNK Event Centre in Lagos, Nigeria.
The singer whose professional singing career started after placing third in the Stars of the Future singing competition, and eventually teaming up with the winner, Irene Logan to release a hit album as a duo, has been receiving a lot of acclaim for her live music performances in the past two years. She is in the process of releasing her first solo album but has already become a favourite of many with her singles.
Efya is excited about winning the award in Nigeria and comments: �It�s a really big deal so it just makes me want to go harder.
I am trying to put my music on the map and so to receive an award outside of Ghana means that not only is my music growing out there but Ghanaian music in general is growing. I thank I thank God I won because it just makes all the hard work worth it.
Efya also hints that her album would soon be out, and her fans should look out for about two hot new music videos ahead of the album release.
