XABI ALONSO gave Real Madrid hope in their Spanish Super Cup tie with rivals Barcelona. The former Liverpool midfielder made it 2-2 in the first leg at the Bernabeu when he fired a low shot through a packed penalty box.
Mesut Ozil put Real ahead in the 13th minute before David Villa levelled with a stunning shot. Lionel Messi nudged Barca in front in first-half stoppage time.
And Alonso equalised in the 54th minute but two away goals give Barcelona the edge for Wednesday's return leg at the Nou Camp.
