Fraudsters Hijack Little Andrews Somalia Effort?

Some fraudsters are allegedly taking advantage of a young Ghanaian boys aid rallying effort to help Somali children who are dying of hunger in the Horn of Africa. Eleven-year-old Andrew Adansi Bongah is liaising with the World Food Programme and UNICEF to ship food aid to the famished children in Somalia. In an interview with Citi News last week, he declared is ambition to raise a total of $13 million from private donations towards the donation. In line with this, he has set up an ad hoc bank account into which donors can donate money into the Save Somalia Children From Hunger Project to bring relief to some of the 3.6 million people whom the UN says are at risk of starvation in Somalia as well as the more than 11 million people across the Horn of Africa who have been affected by what the UN describes as the worst drought to hit the region in 60 years. However, in a cruel twist, the Technical Advising Director of the Save Somalia Children From Hunger Project, Kwabla Asomaning, has told Citi News some other people are feeding on little Andrews campaign apparently to make money for themselves. My understanding is that theyve actually advertised a text message system where individuals should text to a particular network code where Gh1 will be deducted for the text. We have not introduced any such system and anybody who sees that advertisement should treat it with contempt because what we are doing is to let everybody go to any Ecobank branch and either give a cash donation or issue a cheque in the name of Save Somalia Children from Hunger Project which will go into little Andrews account at the Ecobank headquarters at Ridge.
