Michael Essien Expresses Shock Over Mentor Sly Tetteh's Death

Ghana and Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has expressed shock at the sudden death of the man who discovered him and helped him to a world-class player. Alhaji Ibrahim Sly Tetteh passed away on Saturday in Ghana while playing a friendly football match. Sly Tetteh was a father, close friend and uncle to Michael and the Chelsea star and his family have expressed their sadness at the demise of the football administrator �We are all shocked by the sudden death of Alhaji Sly and words cannot express how we feel. Its hurts when death takes a loved one away and sometimes its difficult to understand,� Essien said in a statement. �We will like to express our sincere condolences to the immediate family of Sly and to let them know that we are with them in prayers and in spirit. �Alhaji was our father, uncle, brother and friend and we will miss him dearly but we have to be strong for his wife and kids in these trying moments. �All we can say at the moment is thank you for all you did for us and may your soul RIP Alhaji Sly.� Sly Tetteh who owns Liberty professionals Football Club discovered Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Derek Boateng, John Pantsil and Asamoah Gyan amongst others. He was also a friend and key part of the Michael Essien Foundation. He took part in all the events and was the match commissioner during the recent W11 v A11 Peace Match organised by Michael Essien on behalf of the African Union Alhaji Sly will be sorely missed not only by his friends and family but Ghana football and of the nation as a whole.
