Another Nigerian Arrested

Twenty seven year old Ngozi Collins Ogadinma has found himself in the grips of police over a SIM card fraud case. Ogadinma is alleged to have been arrested for phishing (obtaining financial or other confidential information from internet users) at the Budumburam Liberian Camp in the Central region. According to DSP Francis Baah, Head of the Documents and Visa Fraud Unit at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters, the police retrieved four mobile phones and a laptop computer the suspect used to commit the crime. DSP Baah said that Ogadinma uses the four phones to phish the numbers of unsuspecting victims to whose phones he sends messages telling them they have won some award but would need to buy call credit to a particular number to be able to access it. The police boss cautioned the public not to take such messages serious. He noted that Ogadinma received the call credits which were loaded onto the phone numbers he gave in the text messages. The police boss said he did not understand why people who have not taken part in any raffle or draw would believe such messages. He therefore called on the public to report to the police anytime they received such messages on their phones to help clamp down on such fraudsters. Ogadinma would be arraigned after investigations into the matter are completed.
