Drivers Root For NPP

ONE HUNDRED and one commercial drivers in the Asuogyaman district of the Eastern region have come together to form an association aligned to the opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP) to help canvass votes for the party in the 2012 general elections. The association, which is known as Asuogyaman Drivers of NPP Association, said that it would do all it could to help the NPP win massively in the Asuogyman constituency. Inaugurating the drivers association on Sunday, the regional youth oganiser of NPP, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, said every discerning Ghanaian had realized that members of the NDC government, led by the president, were a pretentious bunch of politicians who used vile propaganda to win power. Now everybody has realised that NDC cannot give Ghanaians anything better and have only paid lip services to all the promises made during the 2008 general elections, he said. He indicated that because the NDC had realised that it would not win the 2012 elections, it had hatched a plan to destroy the flag-bearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo by painting him as drug addict, arrogant, elitist and uncaring. He added that Nana Akufo-Addo, through his listening tour, had shown that he was somebody who cared for the ordinary people, easily mixed with people and had time to listen to people. NDC, through their propaganda, said Nana Akufo-Addo wears gloves before shaking hands with people but when he recently came to the Asuogyaman constituency, you all saw him with no hand gloves shaking people everywhere, he indicated. According to Annoh-Dompreh, because the NDC had failed Ghanaians and could not fulfill its electoral promises, it had turned its attention to a smear campaign against the flagbearer of the NPP. Whether the NDC likes it or not, President Mills will be a one-term president because out of the three presidents of the Fourth Republic, he has been the only president to be challenged by his own party members for the flag-bearership position because some of his own party people are saying that he has been a disappointing president who cannot win the next general elections. He stressed that under the watch of President Mills, who promised to fight corruption, some of his appointees had been looting public monies and building mansions, adding that a DCE in the Ashanti region was caught last week spraying cash at a friends birthday party. Under President Mills Better Ghana Agenda, drivers cannot get gas to buy while Ghanaians use precious time to roam about to find gas to buy while petrol price has been increased astronomically, making life very difficult for Ghanaians. Mr Annoh-Dompreh therefore asked the drivers to remain committed to the cause of the party to win power in 2012. A patron of the association, Jonathan Hagan, said that they would ensure that similar associations were formed in major towns like Apegusu, Jekiti , Anum, Boso and Asikuma in the district so that the message of change could be propagated.
