CPP Does Not Need Businessmen

As Delegates arrive for the Extra Ordinary National Congress of the Conventions Peoples Party (CPP) a senior member of the party, F.A Jantuah has said that the CPP needs vibrant and visionary leaders to revive the party and make it more attractive to electorates. F.A Jantuah has therefore urged the national delegates of the party to kick out the current incompetent leadership and vote Samia Yaba Nkrumah as the Chairman of the party. He added that the CPP does not need businessmen but strong leaders who can make the party formidable enough to rival the two main political parties the NPP and the ruling NDC. Ms Samia Yaba Nkrumah, MP for Jomoro, Professor Edmund N. Delle, former Chairman; Mr Ladi Nylander, incumbent Chairman, and Ms Araba Bentsi-Enchill, a Vice Chairman are the four contestants for the partys chairmanship position. Nii Armah Akomfrah, Ivor Greenstreet and Mr Ekow Duncan are contesting for the General Secretary slot of the party whilst Mr. Kosi Dedey and Mr. Seth Gomnah are contesting for the National Treasurer slot. Delegates from four regions, Northern, Upper West, Upper East and Eastern regions have already arrived at the Trade Fair grounds where the congress which ends on Sunday September 10 would be held. Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Friday September 9, Mr. Jantuah branded the current leadership as incompetent capitalists who do not have what it takes to move the party forward. What CPP needs is a leader, so I am praying that they elect a leader for the CPP. A leader of CPP must be a person who can combine the identity of CPP ideologies for the nation. Ladi Nylander four years ago when he was struggling to be the leader of the CPP promised that he would stand for only four years. Now he is standing again; isnt he lying to the party? Now Professor Delle is a dermatologist who has been spotted all over the country in Hospitals, he employs labour, he is an entrepreneur, how can an entrepreneur lead a political party. "If we look at all the people who are struggling to lead the CPP they have no competence, they have no right to claim to lead the CPP, they are all capitalists. The only person who stands out clearly is Samia because she is solid and has all the qualities to lead the CPP. Already some CPP big wigs including Professor Agyeman Badu Akosa, Prof. Francis Nkrumah, Prof. E.A Afari, Prof. Fred Binka, Prof. Kwame Botwe-Asamoah and Prof Ama Ohene have declared their unwavering support for Samia Nkrumah in a statement released on Thursday September 8.
