Samia Is The Right Choice For CPP…She’s A Breath Of Fresh Air – Prof Akosah

A former presidential aspirant of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Professor Agyemang Badu Akosah, says the decision by the party’s delegates to elect Samia Nkrumah; daughter of Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, as the National Chairperson; is a step in the right direction describing her as “a breath of fresh air”. According to Professor Akosah, the CPP has had some form of internal wrangling but with the election of Samia, he believes she will help resolve the divisions in the party. "The Conventions People's Party has done the right thing in choosing the best candidate and moving forward I believe that we are going to forge unity of the ranks of the people to work hard to begin to connect the traditional voters of the CPP. We are going to make sure that every constituency is applied as we are today and that is the rejuvenation of the CPP,” Prof Akosa said. He was speaking in an interview with Xfm 95.1 shortly after Samia Nkrumah, who also is the MP for Jomoro was declared winner of the Chairmanship slot during the party's National Delegates Congress held on Saturday, 10th August 2011, at the International Trade Fair Centre. Professor Akosah was however quick to add that, even though Samia has never handled such a huge responsibility before, he believes she is the best candidate among the contestants saying that her position is going to be used as the voice of the people not only in CPP but the voice of Ghanaians. He further called on Ghanaians to calm their nerves stressing that the CPP is a party for the people and will therefore serve in the interest of the people.
