Fabregas: Arsenal Trophy Drought Is Far From Over

CESC FABREGAS fears Arsenal's six-year wait for silverware is far from over. The Spanish international left the Gunners to re-join boyhood club Barcelona in a 40million move last month. Midfield star Fabregas, 24, spent eight years in North London but only won one trophy the 2005 FA Cup. And despite admitting Arsenal will always hold a special place in his heart, he sees little possibility of Arsene Wenger's side ending their drought. Fabregas said: "I respect that Arsenal don't have the same financial opportunities as the others. "But it was part of my decision to leave that I find it hard to see Arsenal winning the Premier League or Champions League in the near future. "If you look at the team this season I can't see them finishing in front of teams like Manchester United or City, or Chelsea. There's just too big a difference between the squads. "I still have many feelings for Arsenal, but I fear that they won't be able to push the other big clubs in England away." And Fabregas insists that it was not just the lure of returning to his hometown club that saw him call time on his Arsenal career. his appetite for success played a huge part also. He added: "I want to be in a club that is able to win the big titles year after year and I don't see that kind of future for Arsenal. "I hope they will replace me and the others that have left with some quality players and maybe they can take Arsenal back to their level as champions." Since re-joining Barca, Fabregas has already won the Spanish Super Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.
