Central Regional Propaganda Secretary of the NDC, Bernard Allotey Jacobs has denied being the brain behind the disruption of the visit by Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings to the Central Region saying rather emphatically that he had �absolutely nothing to do with whatever scuffle that took place at Nana Konadu�s planned meeting with her supporters on Saturday�. Nana Konadu had planned a thanksgiving meeting at the Cape Coast Town Hall with her supporters who voted for her in her failed bid to be elected flagbearer of the NDC to contest the 2012 presidential race. A bunch of macho men however forcibly took over the venue and put the place under lock, explaining they were under strict instructions from above to scuttle the planned meeting. Their action also led to some skirmishes. Speaking in an interview on Peace FM�s Kokrokoo Morning Show, Allotey Jacobs who described the action by the group as �unfortunate�, said it could negatively affect party cohesion and unity, pointing out that Ghana politics has gone beyond the use of macho men and violence to cower one's perceived political enemies into submission. ��if I should be involved in orchestrating such plans, I will publicly come out and say it but I am unaware�Before my God and Christ; I had no idea about it, I don�t know what happened. I had returned from Accra tired and I was resting at home when I received a call from a radio station that I had organized some macho men to stop Nana Konadu from holding a meeting with the people in the Central region. I had not gone to town to see what was going on at the Town Hall but I will condemn what happened outright because it doesn�t bring about party cohesion,� he stated. According to him, the former First Lady has sounded reconciliatory in her speeches recently and the party will need her presence and her 3.1% to be able to win the 2012 general elections. �I think Nana Konadu has been reconciliatory in her speeches and since we want to win the election, we will need her presence and her 3.1%. President Mills is the leader and flagbearer of the party so nobody can impede his chances of winning election 2012 but some of such things will cause problems so I am condemning it outright,� he added. He however, condemned the former First Lady for embarking on such a sensitive tour in the region without adequately consulting regional executives of the party. To him, it was wrong on the part of Nana Konadu and his entourage to visit the region under the cover of darkness to hold meetings without prior notice of the executives notice. �I will also condemn Nana Konadu because she should have consulted the constituency and regional executives of the party but the whole thing was very deceptive according to the executives. Nobody was aware; they just saw party paraphernalia at the town hall. Nana Konadu nicodemuosly came into the region to hold her �thank you� tour which was very wrong; but two wrongs do not make a right because the executives should have found an amicable way of bringing Nana Konadu on board,� he noted.
