Asamoah Boateng Speaks On Propaganda

Former Information Minister in the erstwhile NPP government, Stephen Asamoah-Boateng says although he is aware of the challenges of the information ministry, in terms of properly administering information, he does not believe that the incumbent heads of the ministry have delivered their optimum. "Some issues come up and you got to run like a headless chicken to find some answers but I think they could do much betterbut it is up to them to take our suggestions in to consideration. The former Minister pointed out that the problem with the current Information Ministry was that it had still not learnt to move away from the thinking of propaganda when in opposition to the proper dissemination of information for the benefit of the public. He said there is a difference between being in opposition, doing propaganda and being in government. You may do your propaganda when you are in opposition, I dont have a problem with it but when you are in government, you deal with a different set of rules. The Mfantsiman West Member of Parliament for the NPP made specific reference to recent controversial tape recordings that played the voice of deputy Information Minister, Hon. Baba Jamal who was allegedly addressing a group of journalists as to what to report through their media. He said that such situations symbolized the thinking of propaganda. Among other issues discussed during Mr. Asamoah Boatengs interview on Joy FM, were the NPPs flag bearers chances of victory, come 2012. I believe he will win. He said assertively I believe in him, I have known Nana for a longtime and I have watched him grow. He personifies leadership and I believe that at this stage of our development, I believe he is the man for the job. In reference to the mills administration, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, popularly known as Asa B said although he had refrained from speaking on political issues he opined that the almost three-year-old government was ripe for criticism because members of the NDC were not new to process of governing. "The NDC members have been in government for a long time and I am not even counting from the PNDC era. The current president also, was once the vice-president and Head of the Economic Management team, so they should know what they are about. "Right now if you put me back in government and I dont perform, you can remove me because I should know what I am about.
