A SECOND PARLIAMENT exclusively for traditional leaders in the country will be established if an astute businessman contesting the 2012 presidential polls as an independent candidate becomes president in 2013. Jacob Osei Yeboah of �Joy 2012� says he plans to establish a parliament for chiefs if he makes history by becoming Ghana�s first independent president. He said the country was currently retarding in terms of development because our traditional leaders who once ruled the country before the advent of colonialism have now been relegated to the background by so-called modern day politicians who have so far failed to bring about the needed development. Speaking exclusively to DAILY GUIDE at the �Opemsuo� festival at Kokofu over the weekend, the independent presidential candidate observed that Ghana could have made giant strides in development had chiefs been involved in the day-to-day running of the country. According to him, this second parliament of traditional leaders would operate alongside the current parliament which has 230 members drawn from each constituency. If this becomes a reality he noted, all issues discussed at the current parliament would be forwarded to the chiefs� parliament for deliberation and advice before they eventually becomes law. Mr. Yeboah slammed the Big Six which included Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, E. Obetsebi Lamptey, Ebenezer Arko Adjei, William Ofori Atta, Dr. J.B. Danquah and Edward Akuffo-Addo for being the cause of the �pull him down� syndrome that is now the order of the day in Ghanaian politics. He observed that the Big Six after scheming to snatch the leadership of the country from the chiefs later split up, leading to the formation of the UGCC and the CPP which sabotaged one another from that time onwards up till now, resulting in Ghana�s sufferings. Mr. Yeboah stated that until the vision and plans of traditional leaders for the country are tapped by those in authority, Ghana�s long cherished dream of becoming prosperous would forever remain a mirage. The independent presidential candidate, who claims to have the full backing of almost all chiefs in the country in his presidential ambition, says pastors who preach about good morals would also be highly regarded in his government. He slammed politicians in the country including the NPP, NDC, CPP and all the smaller political parties for taking the electorate for a ride for a long time, hence his decision to contest the presidential race to save Ghanaians from their predicament. On what he would do as president to help make the country better, Mr. Yeboah who is in his mid 40s said he would work seriously on Ghana�s human resource base and use the country�s natural resources to lead her to the promise land. He added that wikileaks had so far buttressed his claim that politicians in Ghana are not capable of leading the country. �Our politicians that were exposed by wikileaks have proven that they have little minds,� he said, adding that if they had broad minds, they would not feel inferior in the presence of a white man and say things that would demean Ghana and her people. Mr. Yeboah who was nicely dressed in �Kente� cloth to match the colourful cultural occasion observed that he would make history by defeating the NDC and NPP in the next elections and called on all Ghanaians to rally behind him and be part of this dream.
