83 Apply For National Team Jobs

DAILY GUIDE SPORTS can confirm that 83 persons have applied to coach the various national teams in Ghana. The coaches are said to be almost all Ghanaian who are yearning to coach the national teams which has now assumed an attractive level. About a quarter of the applicants, according to this paper�s information, are ex-Ghanaian players who played professional football outside the country in Europe. They include C.K. Akunnor who had shown earlier interest in coaching the Black Satellites and Meteors and Yaw Preko who until recently was an assistant coach of the Satellites. Former RTU coach Mumuni Gamel is also believed to have applied for the entire coaching job from the Black Starlets to the Satellites, the Meteors and the two women national teams the Black Queens and the Black Princesses. Immediate past coach of the Black Satellites, Orlando Wellingtons who until recently was the head coach of league champions Berekum Chelsea, is also said to have applied for the Satellites job again. Coach Wellington expressed confidence that his performance and previous exploits with the team will help him clinch the job. Coaches who have already applied for the jobs are Karim Zito, Paa Kwesi Fabin, Great Olympics coach Ken Augustt and Dutchman Hans Van der Plyum who resigned from his post at Heart of Lions a few days ago. The Ghana Football Association had issued a directive urging all interested coaches to apply for the vacant junior national team jobs. The deadline for applications was September 21, 2011.
