The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) on Friday congratulated former President John Agyekum Kufuor for his courage and vision in establishing the John Agyekum Kufuor Foundation.
A statement in Accra signed by Nobi Courage and Peter Kwasi Kodji, NUGS General Secretary and the President respectively, said �We believe the Foundation will go a long way to influence leadership development for Ghana, Africa and the world at large.
�The students of Ghana deem it necessary to recognize the effort of Former President Kufuor on the occasion of the launch of his foundation for leadership governance and development.�
The statement said NUGS was confident that the three pillars of the Foundation were not just appropriate but also apt, in that those pillars in their belief were the necessary ingredients for leadership development which would see to the overall improvement in the living standards of the people of Africa and the enrichment of humanity at large.
�We the young people of this country embrace whole heartedly the vision of the Foundation which is to become a Centre of Excellence for inspiring and imparting to individuals and institutions, the psychology and insights of the best practices for pursuing the establishment of stable development of their nations.
�We hope to have the best of partnership with the centre for grooming ourselves into the leadership that this continent so badly needs for current and future development.
�NUGS further promises and commits itself to the advancement of the Mission of the Foundation by advocating and promoting accountable leadership and inclusive democratic governance as the necessary platform on which African states can pursue sustainable development and promote the common good of their citizens.
�The National Union of Ghana Students, hails you for your achievement as President and further demonstration that there can be life after the presidency. Your example is a bright light and an inspiration for us the young people of this country.�
