National Airline Is Not A Priority Mills

President John Evans Atta Mills has stated that the establishment of a national airline to replace the defunct Ghana International Airline (GIA) is not a priority of his government. According to the President, even if a national airline will be established it would be done devoid of the problems that confronted GIA. Addressing the Ghanaian community in New York during an interaction in which some of them wanted to know from the President and his team whether they are considering the establishment of a national airline, President Mills stated that setting up an airline for the nation is not a major concern for his government. Let me be very honest with you every government must have prioritiesat the moment our priority is not the establishment of a national airline considering the problems we had with the Ghana International Airline which is now in court but let see what happens. President Mills also bemoaned the fact that the defunct GIA has become an albatross on the neck of government considering the many challenges that government has to deal with. He however added that a national airline will be given due consideration only when the nation can assure itself that setting up a national airline will be profitable and self-sustaining. Lets be sure that if we establish a national airline it is not going to fall into a point into of tramp. We have to learn our lessons. Lets go back and find out what the problem has been all along then we would be able to establish an airline that is self sustaining, profitable that would give credit to our national indigene
