Former Miss Ghana Contest Ledzokuku Seat

About three well known members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ledzokuku Constituency are bracing themselves to contest the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon. Nii Nortey Dua in the forth coming partys primaries. Among the three names is Mr. Sowah Boye-Sekan, a junior brother of the late Nii Adjei Boye-Sekan, the first NDC MP in the Fourth Republic in the Ledzokuku Constituency. Mr. Boye-Sekan is very popular among the electorate who are indigenes of Teshie who mainly reside at the old Teshie Township, the same place the current MP draws majority of his support from. Should Mr. Boye-Sekan contest, it will be a cause for worry for the incumbent. Nevertheless, the major threat to Nii Nortey Duah in his bid to retain his place on the ballot paper in the name of the NDC is a former Miss Ghana, Benita Sena Golomeke. Madam Sena, as she is affectionately called, is the favourite among the youth and the women of the party. She is known for her generosity and willingness to support the vulnerable within the party in the constituency, and have attracted many commendations for her contributions towards partys activities. Although not a Ga, Madam Sena was born, bred and had lived most of her life in the Constituency. She is currently the Constituency Womens Organizer. Another hopeful, Hamza Haruna, a youth activist of the party in the Constituency, has made known his intention to also contest the sitting MP in the primaries. It is however too early to assess his chances should he take the bull by the horn when the time is due. Aside the three, it is anticipated that persons like Mr. Daniel Amartey, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ledzokuku-Krowor, Mr. Danny Annang, a current National Vice Chairman of the Party and one Mr. Charles Anyankor could spring a surprise with their intention to contest. The incumbent MP, Nii Nortey Duah, who doubles as the Deputy Sports Minister is said to have lost touch with a greater number of the constituents and has thus become a major encouraging factor to his prospective contenders. However, the MP still enjoys considerable support among the party members within the old Teshie Township. The primary to select the NDC Parliamentary Candidate is expected to be held early next year.
