Yes, JJ Is Disrespected Left, Right And Centre But, - Kofi Adams

Spokesperson for the Rawlingses, Kofi Adams, has discounted claims that the former President is set to defect from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to join the New Patriotic Party (NPP), even though he concedes that the NDC Founder is disrespected left, right and centre. Kofi Adams says there is no way that will happen. A publication in Tuesdays edition of the Al-Hajj newspaper said unconfirmed reports suggest that former President Rawlings is planning to politically make a 360 degrees about-turn and join the NPP in what promises to be the mother of all defections in the annals of politics since the birth of the nation-state called Ghana, in 1957. According to the newspaper, the claim is premised on the fact that the former President for some time now has not been contributing to issues of the party (NDC) as the founder due to the treatment meted out to him and his family the partys National Delegates Congress held in Sunyani, a couple of months ago. A portion of the publication reads: What propelled the former President more in his desire to join the opposition NPP is the recent announcement of defection of Major Boakye Gyan, his rival and mortal enemy to the ruling party, the party he has personally labored to father and nurture. "Rawlings is reported to have told his very close friends and associates that there is no way he and Boakye Gyan can be in one political party and so he is calling it quits with the NDC. But Kofi Adams, who was reacting to the publication in an interview on Radio Gold, insisted there is no iota of truth in the story. He described as interesting how certain journalists can wake up in the morning and on the spur of the moment publish unsubstantiated reports in their newspapers. Thats interesting. I dont know what has become of some journalists in this country. I can tell you that the former president will remain the founder of NDC and he is not going to go into any party. It (the publication) should be treated with the contempt that it deserves. If you are a founder of party and you campaign for it and you are being disrespected left, right and centre, definitely he would not be happy but it does not mean that he is going to join another political party, Kofi Adams asserted. In answer to whether the former President will campaign for the NDC in the 2012 election, Kofi Adams, who also doubles as the Deputy General Secretary of NDC said, as long as Mr Rawlings remains the founder of the party, he will continually to freely express his thoughts and offer advice concerning issues of the party "so that those who will listen will listen and act by it". He is not going to quit the NDC. He will work to ensure that the NDC is stillstrong. He is not going to leave the NDC to any place. If that is the intention of his detractors then they have another thing coming. Lets get back to our core values that show that we are different from the NPP, he stated.
