Pastor Swindles Wedded Wife

THE FOUNDER and Head Pastor of Promise Miracle Church at Chiraa, near Sunyani, Bishop Kofi Richmond Aduhene, aka Kalibo, is on police wanted list after he reportedly swindled his wedded wife. The Man of God, who is believed to be about 30 years old, allegedly abandoned his wife when she was in labour at the hospital and sold their house and vanished into thin air. According to his 25-year-old wife, Doris Addison, she was in labour at the hospital about five months ago when news got to her that her husband had packed all his belongings at their Chiraa house and deserted the town after selling the house. She told Daily Guide that since she was in labour, she could not leave the hospital to ascertain the truth or otherwise of the matter. She said she spent a lot of time at the hospital because she was operated upon and when she finally went home, the bishop had indeed gone with all their belongings. Doris, who is currently nursing their four-month-old son, said life had become terrible for her because she was unemployed and solely depended on the benevolence of neighbours. The bishop is believed to be hiding in Kumasi or Offinso in the Ashanti region. The woman mentioned that when she went to Offinso-Afrancho to inform the parents of the pastor who presided over their marriage about the development, the parents were also nowhere to be found. It was there that I realized that the pastor was a swindler because residents told me that those people he referred to as his parents were actually not his parents and that he bribed them to pose as his real parents during the marriage ceremony. Meanwhile, he made me believe that they were his real parents, she lamented. The Brong Ahafo Regional Coordinator of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Sampson Agbeko, who confirmed the story, said the police were combing around for the bishop to come and face the law. DSP Agbeko told Daily Guide that Bishop Richmond was facing similar criminal charges concerning a different woman, said to be his wife. He said the police would secure a court order to issue a warrant for his arrest. Explaining how she got into the snare of the bishop, Doris said she was in her final year at the Sunyani Polytechnic as an HND student when the bishop approached her in 2009 and expressed interest in her. She said the bishop arranged for her wedding and brought some people he described as his parents to her hometown in the Nzema area to stand in for him during the marriage ceremony. According to her, after their wedding, the bishop rented an apartment for her at Yawhima, a few kilometers away from Chiraa, where she stayed for about four months. When she questioned her husband about why they were staying at different locations, the bishop lied to her that he had no proper place of his own at Chiraa as he was a new person in the town. Doris stated that she was later informed that her husband had married another woman from Techiman and was also dating other women at Chiraa. When she moved to Chiraa and confronted the bishop about the allegations, he told her that the woman from Techiman was his former wife. The woman said somewhere along the line, she was detained at the hospital due to the complications in her pregnancy until she went through surgery to deliver, during which time the bishop packed all his things and sold the house and left.
