STX Project Report Ready...Mills Decides Future - Bagbin

The Minister for Water Resources Works and Housing, Alban Bagbin has stated that the problems preventing the commencement of the controversial STX Housing project is the many differences between the Ghanaian and the Korean partners. Mr. Alban Bagbin noted that the differences between the two partners have been sorted which he said would soon pave way for the commencement of the STX housing project. The partners are having some differences and those differences are what are preventing the remittance of the money that has been secured through the use of the sovereign guarantee that government has made available to them because the partners disagree on many issues". Hon. Alban Bagbin said a mediation team put together by President Mills to settle the differences between the STX partners is due to present its report by next week. Mr Alban Bagbin who was chairman of the mediation team however failed to give details of the report saying President Mills will have the final say once the report is presented to him. The report will have a huge impact on what becomes of the STX deal after a long time of waiting without any activity. Recent boardroom wrangling between the Ghanaian and Korean partners has prevented them from starting what has been christened the Ghana Housing Project by the NDC administration. But Mr Bagbin at a West African Infrastructure Conference indicated that government is bent on closing the housing deficit hence its commitment to seeing the STX deal through.
