The 55 national best teachers on Monday paid a courtesy call on the Western Regional Minister, Mr Paul Evans Aidoo. The Western Region is hosting the award ceremony that will be held at the Jubilee Park on October 05.
Mr Aidoo congratulated them for excelling and urged them to continue with the zeal with which they worked to merit the award.
Mr Noah Ben Azare, an award winner, told the GNA that teachers are saddled with many challenges as they often face problems in their desire to get the best for their students.
He cited an instance where government is pursuing the Information Technology programme yet most schools lack computers to teach the pupils thus placing the well-endowed schools over others.
Mr Azure appealed to parents and guardians to monitor their children so that they are not glued to television and mobile phones instead of learning as that contributes to poor academic performance.
