Information Ministry Sympathises With Late Actor�s Family

The Minister for Information (MOI), Mr John Akologu Tia and the Deputy Minister, Mr Baba Jamal, on Friday paid a courtesy call on the late Efo Kojo Mawubge�s family at his residence in Accra, to express their condolence to the family on behalf of MoI. Consoling the family, the Information Minister, described the late Mawugbe as a determined person who worked his way up from a very humble background to become a renowned playwright and Director of the Ghana National Theatre. He described him as a major pillar in the arts as well as the film industry. Efo Mawugbe, the Minister recalled that, out of 12,000 entries worldwide won the BBC International Radio Playwright award for 2009 with a play entitled �The Prison Graduate�. The Minister presented an amount of GH�1000.00 on behalf of MoI. His brother, Mr Samuel Mensah Sakpo Mawugbe, who received the cash donation on behalf of the family, thanked the Minister for the kind gesture. He disclosed that the body of the late Efo Mawugbe would be laid in state 28 October 2011, at the State House and laid to rest at the Osu cemetery after wake-keeping on the 27 October 2011 at the National Theatre, the memorial thanksgiving service would also take place on 29 October 2011 at the National theatre, Accra. The Minister assured the family of MoI�s support and promised to be with them during the final funeral rite of the late Efo Kojo Mawugbe.
