Agbeko Leaves For US

Joseph Agbeko, former International Boxing Federation, (IBF) Bantamweight Champion, has left the shores of Ghana for the United States of America (USA) to take on Abner Marez in a re-match on December 3. The Ghanaian boxing champion emplaned from the Kotoka International Airport in the company of his coach and other officials of his team. Agbeko, according to information gathered by GNA Sports from his camp is expected to remain in the USA up to December 3, to afford him the opportunity to focus and concentrate on his training ahead of the must-win fight. The former IBF champion who lost the title to the American, would be presented with the opportunity to reclaim the title he lost under controversial circumstances in August, after Abner Marez was greatly aided by referee Rusell Mora, who allowed several illegal punches below the belt on Agbeko. According to the information, Agbeko would go through two months of intensive and vigorous physical conditioning aimed at sharpening his reflexes for the crucial fight. The IBF, it would be recalled ordered an immediate rematch of the fight in light of what it called inappropriate conduct by the referee during the bout.
