Mrs Akuffo Addo Donates To Flood Victims

Mrs Rebecca Akuffo Addo, wife of Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has donated items valued at GH � 7,000 to the recent flood victims in the Eastern Region. Mrs Akuffo Addo said she was touched by the extent of damage caused by the floods and hence the donation adding that if the cause of the deluge was as a result of illegal mining activities as had been reported, then drastic measures are needed to be implemented to help forestall such disasters. Mrs Akuffo Addo commended all those who had contributed to the affected victims and appealed to other organizations and philanthropists to contribute their quota to the affected areas. The Eastern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Dr Samuel Annor, on behalf of the affected victims commended Mrs Akuffo Addo for the kind gesture and gave the assurance that the items would be delivered to the distressed victims The Member of Parliament for Atiwa, Mr Kwasi Amoako Atta, who represented MPs of the affected areas, thanked Mrs Akuffo Addo and also appealed to organizations and agencies to contribute to the relief fund he had set up to support the victims. It would be recalled that in the later part of July this year, a heavy downpour caused the River Birim to overflow its banks flooding farmlands and communities and resulting in the death of three people.
