Forty-Eight Delegates Rejected By NDC

A Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress has refuted allegations that Mr Ameen Salifu, the Wa East District Chief Executive, has connived with the Constituency Secretary to delete some names of delegates in the constituency. The Committee described the allegation of deleting the names of 58 delegates, as a calculated attempt by an aggrieved youth of the constituency to tarnish the image of the Mr Salifu who is also a contestant in the primaries. The Committee said this in a statement jointly signed by Mr Bawa Wallima, Chairman of the Committee, Mr Kuri Suglo, Secretary, Mr Mohammed Hatib, Organizer, Mr Mashood Nuhu, Vice Secretary and Mr Issahaque Fuseini, Treasurer. The statement said 48 names of the delegates were indeed replaced and not 58 as alleged by the group, adding that the replacement was done in accordance with Article 47 clause I to VI of the partys constitution which mandated the branch executives to appoint a person to fill a vacancy when it so existed at the branch. If such names are replaced by the branch executives due to death, defection, relocation or impersonation, it was done in accordance with the spirit and letter of the NDC Constitution and had nothing to do with the DCE or the Constituency Secretary, the statement said. With regards to the threat of the supposed nine youth leaders to defect to the New Patriotic Party, the statement said no true member of the NDC would defect to any political party if they held dearly to the values of the party. The statement said the allegation that Mr Ameen Salifu was creating factions within the constituency was not true adding that development projects, appointments and award of contracts were done in a transparent manner to reflect the various sections and ethnic groupings in the constituency. It said We the youth and the entire executives of the party will not sit down unconcerned but will work hard to see Mr Ameen Salifu sworn into office as the Member of Parliament for Wa East in the coming elections.
