Tenant Dies After Landlord Ejects Him

Four persons, including a landlord, have been arrested over the death of a tenant the landlord had evicted about 1:00a.m last Tuesday. The body of the victim, Kwame Elijah Amedziku, was found with deep cuts five hours later in the middle of the road between Sefwi-Buako and Sankore in the Brong 'Ahafo Region. According to the police, after evicting Amedziku, the landlord asked his in-law, who is a driver, to convey the belongings of the victim to wherever he wished to go. The victim, who was an auto mechanic, agreed, after the landlord had offered him a KIA truck, with registration number A W 528-09, to carry his belongings. He then asked the driver to convey him to his family at Sankore. The police said at that time of the night, the victims belongings, including the bed, a mattress, a television set and other electrical gadgets, were packed into the bucket of the truck, with the victim sitting on them. The next day, however, the victim, who had left in the company of the driver and two brothers, was found dead in the middle of the road with deep cuts at the back of his neck and several other injuries. According to the police, when the driver of the vehicle, Kwame Nkrumah, was contacted, he denied ever taking Apledziku and his belongings to Sankore. They said further investigation revealed that Amedzikus belongings had been removed from the truck and hidden in the bush on the way to Sankore by Kwame Nkrumah. They said when the two brothers, Charles Bayor, 16, and Elvis Bayor, 18, were arrested for interrogation; they confirmed leaving with the victim and the driver on the journey. They, however, said they had fallen asleep on the way and did not realise what happened. The driver then told us to keep quiet and not mention what happened to anybody, which we did until we were arrested, they said. Nkrumah later admitted that he had picked the victim and his belongings in the truck but he did not know what happened when, on their arrival at the final destination, Amedziku was not found at the back of the vehicle. The suspect told the police that the victim might have fallen from the truck but he could also not explain why the belongings were not in the vehicle but deposited in the bush. The police have arrested the victims landlord to explain why he had to evict the deceased at such an ungodly hour, only for the victim to be found dead the next day. The body of the victim has been deposited at the Wiawso Government Hospital morgue for autopsy. Comments ( 0 ): Have Your Say >>
