We Are Focused On Our Manifesto Promises - Prez Mills

The President of Ghana, John Atta Mills, has insisted that his government is focused on delivering the promises made in the NDC manifesto, particularly in the area of health delivery. He was speaking at the commissioning of a US$5 million Clinical Teaching Centre for the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Medical School. The facility which was financed by Barti Airtel is expected to aid health delivery and learning within Cape Coast and its immediate environs. Residents of the region will no longer have to travel to Korle-Bu in Accra or Komfo Anokye in Kumasi to access such facility. Whilst appreciating the worth of the project to health delivery and teaching, President Mills indicated how unwavering his NDC government is to its manifesto promises. "As a government, we will ensure that we do whatever it takes to provide the necessary facilities in the areas which are key to our development," the president said. "If you look at our manifesto, one of the pillars on which our development agenda rests is investment in our people that is to provide them with health care and education." On their part, the medical students of the Cape Coast University in an interview with Citi News said the facility is a timely intervention. Meanwhile, a lecturer at the Medical School of Cape Coast University, Dr Arthur Kennedy, while appreciating the intervention has called for the fast tracking of plans to turn the Cape Coast regional hospital into a teaching hospital for the benefit of majority of Ghanaians.
