Minister Submits To Media Probe On $500,000 Gambian Money

The Ghana Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, will today [Tuesday] submit himself and his officials to a media drilling on the controversial US$500,000 expenditure made by his ministry as part of funeral expenses for some slain Ghanaians in The Gambia. The Gambian government made available to Ghana an amount of US$500,000 to compensate the families of the deceased and to take care of their funerals. The sector minister in Parliament last week made a summary presentation of the expenditure which raised a lot of eyebrows even from within the ruling NDC. The Ghana Integrity Initiative and other anti-corruption institutions have called for a probe into the expenditure, a proposal that has been backed by the NDC propaganda secretary, Richard Quashigah. Speaking to Citi News, Hon. Mumuni said todays media encounter on the whole expenditure and compensation package for the families of the victims will clear the doubts in the minds of Ghanaians.
