Ama Benyiwa Doe Vows To Fight For 30% Placement System

The Central Regional Minister, Ama Benyiwa Doe, says she would fight for the 30% BECE Placement System in her district capital. Speaking to Citi News, the minister said the reason for the system is to enhance the development of the various districts, and as such, should be encouraged and not dismissed. According to Hon. Doe, secondary schools in the districts receive supplements from the District Assembly Common Fund, and as such the only way inhabitants of the district would benefit from these resources is to be given a quota in those second cycle schools. Meanwhile, a former Minister in the Kufuor administration, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie says the 30% BECE Placement System discriminates against persons from other districts. He said admissions to Senior High Schools should be on an equal basis for all prospective candidates to access. Dr. Afriyie told Citi News that the system did not undergo serious analysis before implementation.
