Another Ghana Find For Kosmos

Another appraisal well from Kosmos Energy has found oil, gas and condensate in the West Cape Three Points block off Ghana, the company said Thursday. The Teak-3A well was drilled 2.5 miles north of Teak-1 and hit 115 feet of pay, confirming that its Teak discovery extends to the north, a statement from the NYSE-listed Africa specialist said. The yield included 43 feet of 36 to 39 API degree oil and 72 feet of gas-condensate pay. We are very encouraged by the result, which gives further momentum for additional development of the resources discovered on our operated block, chief executive Brian Maxted said. The well was drilled to a total depth of 10,571 feet in 1475 feet of water by the Transocean Marianas semisubmersible rig. More wells are planned for the area, including Teak-4A in the second quarter of 2012, with more to follow later in the year. Kosmos is operator on the block with about a 30.9% interest. Anadarko also holds a 30.9% interest, Tullow Oil 26.4%, Sabre Oil & Gas 1.8% interest and Ghana National Petroleum Corp. a 10% carried interest.
