Blame Mills Govt For Deteriorated Speakers House Sir John

The NPP General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, has said the high cost of refurbishing the official residence of the Speaker of Parliament is due to the neglect of the facility by the NDC government over the years. The renovation of the speakers official residence which was vacated by former speaker, Sekyi-Hughes has been pegged at 1. 5 billion old cedis. According to Mr. Afriyie, the Mills-led administrations attitude towards the issue leaves much to be desired. He expressed worry that the state of disrepair at the Jubilee House could also lead to a similar situation in a few years to come. The noise that was made by Mills government about date of offence since the speaker left and the fact that they had left the building to rot, needing a huge expenditure to put it back leaves much to be desired, he said. Mr Afriyie added: So having left the place because of the politics of it for this long with nobody living in the place, which appears to be the case, Mills and his government ought to be seriously made to cough that money which is going to be spent on the building to the state. It did not make sense for this government to have left the building uninhabited for such a long time, Im afraid the same thing is going to happen to the Jubilee House.
