Saturday�s round of parliamentary primaries for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in some orphan constituencies in the five regions in the southern sector has really produced interesting results, as reports reaching peacefmonline.com indicate that some stalwarts in the ruling party have been knocked out cold. Former Minister of Information, Zita Okaikoi and Minister of Agriculture minister, Kwesi Ahwoi, have both lost the parliamentary primaries in their respective constituencies. Zita Okaikoi lost the Dome-Kwabenya primary when she was beaten by Sophia Akuako who secured 100 votes from delegates. Zita polled 87 ballots. Two others contestants Isaac Adama and Isaac Affum had 73 and a vote respectively. Interestingly, one of the aspirants, Isaac Affum who managed just a single vote out of the over 200 delegates present, was whisked by Atomic District police right after the results were declared. He was arrested over allegations of fraud. A petition brought against him by one Michael Darko accuses the aspirant of defrauding him to tune of GHC 3,000. The aspirant, he claimed, took the said amount from him in two installments; GHC 2,000 and GHC 1,000 respectively, under the pretext of giving him two auctioned cars being 2008/2009 model of Toyota Camry. But according to him, since August 2011 when he paid the money the the NDC parliamentary aspirant, he had not seen the said cars neither had he heard anything positive from him. Another complaint against the Pastor/Politician and lodged at the same station which the police is investigating, is the claim that the aspirant has defrauded also person to the tune of GHC 7,000. Meanwhile, in the Central Region, Mr. Ahwoi, according to reports, lost the Agona East primaries by three votes to Queenstar Pokua Sawyerr who polled 146 votes. The minister had 143 votes. The other two contestants Eric Turkson and Kojo Yankah�s younger brother George Yankah had 82 and one vote respectively.
