No Parliamentary Seat For NPP In Volta region - Dzifa Aku Attivor

Deputy Transport Minister, Dzifa Aku Attivor has declared that the party in the Volta region would win all the parliamentary seats in the region, including the yet to be created constituencies in the 2012 general elections. She noted that the social democratic orientation of the NDC makes it the most attractive grouping to the masses, especially the rural dwellers. According to madam Attivor, the numerous social interventions such as the distribution of free uniforms, free exercise books, expanded school feeding put in place by the government has contributed tremendously in improving the lot of the overwhelming majority of Ghanaians. The Deputy Minister made the remarks at the Nkwanta North Constituency Primaries to elect candidate for the constituency, the only orphan constituency in the region. She assured the people of government�s commitment and that of the President Prof John Evans Atta Mills to ensure that the region receives her fair share of the national cake. "I'll want to say without any shadow of doubt that the Volta region will continue to receive her share of development''. According to her, the Eastern Corridor road which runs through the constituency is a priority programme for government, adding that everything is being done to ensure its execution. Madam Attivor who also touched on the positive impact of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), assured the people that its implementation will improve their lot. The Regional Chairman, Kwesi Aboagye said the signs are on the wall that there is no way the opposition can win the Nkwanta North seat again in 2012. He lauded the DCE for the great sacrifice to step down, adding that it is a sign of maturity and integrity. For his part, the Constituency Chairman, Alhaji Abdul Anas Anakwa appealed to the national leadership for support to be able to annex the seat from the NPP. John Oti Bless, who was endorsed by popular acclamation, after the other contestant, Paul Gyato, who is also the District Chief Executive stepped down, said he will work hard to unite all interest groups for total victory. Mr. Gyato said the area has seen tremendous infrastructural development since the assumption of office by the NDC.
